From the Nature Table to the Night Sky

Mother Earth for hands and hearts, Star for story and archetype, Moon for inner life, Sun for illumination, and Journey to the Compass Rose for True Self Awakening.

Welcome to the Star Collection

Orientation by story and archetype — the Archetypes of the Soul, star lore, myth and fairy tale, and the storytelling that meets a child where they stand.

A painted autumn cornfield where a barefoot boy in a golden crown carries a wooden sword and round shield at the head of a procession of children bearing a long green cloth dragon on poles, a small chapel on the hill behind.

Michaelmas

Storytelling and craft workshop, with video recordings and audios

A painted autumn lane at dusk, copper trees overhead and drifts of fallen leaves underfoot, two children walking away up the track with an armful of leaves lifted.

October

Storytelling with video tutorials, recordings and audios

A painted bare November wood in the late afternoon, a girl a little way along the path turning a beech leaf in her fingers with a feather and an acorn already gathered, a smaller child crouched over the leaf floor beyond her, mist softening the furthest trees.

November

Martinmas and Thanksgiving — carrying the light and the cloak of kindness. Storytelling scripts, lantern crafts, gratitude verses and a shared harvest meal.

A painted cottage kitchen where a little black pot on the hearth overflows with golden porridge that pours across the floor and out into the village street, a girl stepping back with her hands lifted and her mother beside her.

Sweet Porridge

Storytelling with video tutorials, recordings and audios

A painted river in high summer where Lucia Zenteno sits combing the water back out of her long black hair with a mesquite comb, her iguana beside her, fish and otters streaming back into the riverbed while villagers watch with lowered heads.

The Woman Who Outshone the Sun

A Zapotec legend of the river and radical hospitality — table-theater scripts, silk dye crafting, water table verses and parent reflections.

A painted stable at night, the newborn child in a rough manger with the light rising out of him, Mary bending near and Joseph beyond, the ox and ass in shadow, shepherds arriving at the stable mouth and a great star low over the roof.

The First Christmas Light

One spark in the lengthening dark — table-theater scripts, beeswax candle making, Advent spiral guides, window star templates and winter songs.

A painted deep snow scene where Turlutin, a small gnome in a pointed cap, sits at the foot of a snowy slope shaking with cold while a hare, a fox, a bird and a squirrel press close and a blanket of many coloured wool gathers around his shoulders.

Turlutin

The hidden life of meadow and stream — table-theater scripts, silk and wool sprite crafting, nature table guides and outdoor sensory activities.

A painted stone tower room by lamplight, heaped straw turned to gold, a young woman risen from her spinning wheel with the spun thread looping around her and a cradle safe beside her, a small figure in a pointed cap stamping in the shadowed corner.

Rumpelstiltskin

The power of naming what we fear — table-theater scripts, hand-spinning and drop-spindle tutorials, golden straw crafts and parent reflections.

A painted winter field under a vast night sky where a barefoot girl in a thin shift stands with her arms open and her head tipped back as stars fall around her as bright coins, gathering in the shift she holds out.

The Star Money

Generosity and the release of scarcity — table-theater scripts, silk-and-wool standing puppets, starlight lantern crafts and parent reflections.

Welcome

My name is Melanie

I am a Waldorf teacher on the Alabama Gulf Coast. Seed & Scholaria is where I keep the stories, seasonal work and lesson guides I make for young children, and the study and inner work I do as the adult who teaches them.

Take what is useful, and come back when the season changes.
