The Hunter: Awakening the True Will

The Hunter carries a weapon capable of extraordinary precision.

But before the arrow is released, another question matters more:

Whose will is directing it?

In Snow White, the Huntsman enters the forest carrying the Queen’s command. He has been given an aim: kill the innocent girl and return with proof.

At first, his will serves something that did not arise from his own deepest being.

Then he encounters Snow White.

He sees her.

And something awakens.

The command that seemed absolute loses its power. The Huntsman lowers his weapon and allows her to live.

This is the deeper gesture of the Hunter:

Sleeping will → encounter → awakening → true will.

There are many ways to live beneath another will without realizing it.

Expectation. Fear. Obligation. Ambition. Inherited belief. The longing for approval. Old commands can continue directing a life long after the voice that gave them has disappeared.

We may become extraordinarily focused and still be aiming toward something that was never truly ours.

This is why the Hunter is also the Awakener.

Within The Alchemical Path, we return to the Stillpoint before we release the arrow. We become quiet enough to recognize what is directing our will before we give our strength to it.

Artemis carries another face of this archetype: self-possessed, attentive, undivided. Her bow becomes an image of the will gathered around its own center.

The awakened Hunter does not lose her power.

She becomes conscious of its direction.

The forest grows quiet. The bow is drawn. Attention, intention, and action come onto one line.

But now the aim arises from within.

Perhaps this is the Hunter’s question:

What is directing my will—and what becomes possible when I awaken to the will that is truly my own?
